Barefoot Shoes or Nike?

If you look at the feet of people today and those of people hundreds to thousands of years ago you will find a big difference. The big difference is in their toes and the spacing in-between them. In almost every shoe you find these days, the toe box (the part of the shoe that holds your toes) is very narrow and doesn't allow enough room for your toes to spread out. Popular shoe brands like Nike and Adidas offer almost no shoes other than ones with narrow toe box. However, recently more and more companies are arising that are offering barefoot shoes, or shoes that simulate it. These shoes have very small insoles, only a few millimeters, as well as much wider shoe boxes. Some of these companies include Vivid barefoot, Xero, and Flux. The benefits of having more spread out toes include better stability, and the ability to put out more force through your legs. These are small details that many weightlifters and athletes often forget about or just flat-out don't know about....

Apple Vision Pro

The Apple Vision Pro has been very popular recently. Almost every time I go on Tin Tok or instagram, I find myself watching a video of someone walking around downtown wearing an apple vision pro, or someone sitting in their house watching a basketball game court side from their couch. In my opinion these VR headsets are completely changing how people live, and I don't think it is a good thing. I am someone who would prefer being outside than sitting in my house staring at my PS5. These people walking around with this thing around their head is crazy in my opinion, it just doesn't make sense to me. However, I do believe that this device can also be helpful to students, especially med-school students. One of the videos I came across on instagram, a student was using the headset to direct the human brain. The apple vision pro allowed them to take apart the body into individual parts, allowing them to study the body for exams and diagnosis.

WHOOP: The Benefits for Athletes

WHOOP, a small bracelet that tracks how well your body recovers, your circadian rhythm, and how hard you worked your body. Elite athletes must be on top of everything in regards to their body. In order to perform at the highest level, one must also physically feel great. WHOOP is a great way to track those things most other smart watches can not track. It allows athletes to figure out how their body recovers, and with the addition of WHOOP's sleep coach, you can find what works best for you to sleep the best. Sleep coach works better, when you fill out the journal where you record what you ate, how much water you drank, and how much screen time you had for the day, and etc. WHOOP is a great resource for all athletes, that more people should look into purchasing.

The Importance of Blue Light Glasses

In our fast-paced, digital-centric lives, the ubiquity of screens in the form of smartphones, computers, and tablets has become an integral part of our daily existence. Amid this technological surge, the emergence of blue light glasses, characterized by their distinctive amber tint, marks a significant advancement in addressing the potential drawbacks of prolonged screen exposure. These glasses serve a dual purpose – functioning as both a protective barrier against the potentially harmful effects of blue light and a proactive measure to enhance overall visual comfort. Blue light, emitted abundantly by digital screens, has been linked to adverse outcomes such as eye strain, headaches, and sleep disturbances. Blue light glasses, equipped with specialized coatings, work to selectively filter out a portion of this high-energy visible (HEV) blue light. By doing so, they mitigate eye strain and reduce discomfort, particularly during extended screen use. Beyond the immediate relief they provi...

The Kinetic Arm: What It Does and Why More Players Should Use It

As a baseball player and especially a pitcher, injuries happen and they often come from the over-stressing of a ligament or joint. The most common of these injuries include a torn UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) which results in Tommy  John surgery. The UCL lies on the inside of your elbow and is the main ligament receiving stress when throwing. The kinetic arm is a relatively recent invention that helps take stress off of the elbow, posterior shoulder, and anterior shoulder. The kinetic arm is a type of arm sleeve that offers an exterior support system that has proven to take stress off the arm at peak stress levels. Allowing players to throw more and while also feeling good and protecting their arm. Multiple studies have been done of this product and they all have produced the same result. They all said the sleeve helped relieve stress and is a beneficial tool to every player not just pitchers. I personally have been using it for the past few months and I hav...
